Brazilian relationships are known for being emotionally intense. Jealousy, drama, and passion can all coexist. Was that something you adapted to, or did it become too much to handle?

The intensity was something I had to consciously choose to handle differently than I would at home. Back home, a partner who got angry about something would usually go quiet. My Brazilian girlfriend expressed everything immediately and fully. Exhausting at first, then actually healthy. Nothing festered.

Jealousy was the hard part. She didn’t like me having female friends she hadn’t met, and checking in was an expectation, not an ask. Some guys can’t handle that. I found a middle ground but it required actual conversation about what the boundaries were — not just accepting it or fighting it.
